o2co2 TEAM

Who are we?

co-founder

Matthieu Dubreucq

Born in 1982 in France, Matthieu Dubreucq immigrated to Quebec, Canada with his family in 1989.

Training and movement have guided Matthieu in his choices and goals throughout his life. From the age of 9 to 29, he represented Quebec and later Canada in various categories of sailboats, including the 49er for the Canadian team, an Olympic high-performance boat. In addition to sailing, Matthieu is a Level 3 ski instructor certified by the Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance and a Level 3 athlete and coach in CrossFit.

After completing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BAA) at HEC Montreal, Matthieu embarked on a full-time pursuit of sailing performance. He travelled all over the world to participate in the 49er World Cup circuit. Whether in warm or cold waters, he quickly learned that cold exposure could be either an unpleasant or highly beneficial experience, depending on preparation and mindset.

In 2007, during a training camp in Miami, he discovered CrossFit. This new sport, which requires being a generalist, proved ideal for those who want to try everything. Of course, breathing plays a crucial role in the ability to develop optimal power. This led Matthieu to delve into the “why,” “how,” and “when” of breathing. This exploration led him to deepen his knowledge on the subject and ultimately meet Marc Romain, with whom he co-founded o2co2.

Now a coach and trainer for CrossFit LLC, Matthieu is more interested than ever in finding ways to generate better performance at all levels and ages. Breathing and cold exposure are increasingly central to his practice, and he looks forward to sharing his passion for breathing, movement, and success with you.

co-founder

Marc Romain

Marc Romain is the co-founder of o2co2, the company behind the method that combines four key elements: breathing, cold exposure, heat exposure, and meditation. He is also a certified instructor in various breathing methods such as the Wim Hof Method, Oxygen Advantage, Breatheology, and Pranayama.

Born in France in 1973, Marc has been passionate about sports since a young age. He engages in various activities including freediving, running, sailing, high mountain trekking, and extreme sports like paragliding, skydiving, paddle surfing, and ice diving.

At the age of 18, he left France to travel the world, curious to explore other cultures and himself. From Morocco to Indonesia, Chile to Canada, he has lived in 14 countries. His thirst for adventure and discovery led him to establish several businesses in import-export, tourism, and fashion.

It was during challenging moments in his life that Marc discovered breathing as a true source of strength and power. The benefits of breathing helped him overcome difficulties he encountered during his adventures. He realized that breathing wasn’t just functional or mechanical, but could amplify our potential almost limitlessly.

As a co-founder of o2co2, Marc chose to share his passion for breathing by organizing workshops and online training. Through the practice of the four key elements of the o2co2 method, Marc has set three world records and experienced significant improvements in his daily life, including a deeper connection to himself, reduced pain, and enhanced stress and anxiety management.

DEEPEST COLD WATER FREE DIVE: 23.6 METERS (77.4 FEET)

MARC ROMAIN

On October 30, 2022, Marc Romain dived to a depth of 23.6 M in 7 Celsius (44.6 Fahrenheit) degree water, wearing only swimming shorts, a mask, snorkel, a pair of fins, a hood, gloves and a depth gauge watch, in Kahnawake Quarry, Montreal Canada.

Discover our incredible journey through the wild expanses of the Yukon, in the western part of Canada, where willpower and determination merged to establish an unprecedented world record. Our captivating video provides an intimate glimpse into our intense and rigorous preparation, made possible by applying the 4 keys of the o2co2 Method, for an achievement that will forever be etched in history. Beneath the icy thickness of the air at -25 degrees Celsius (-13 °F) and the frigid waters at -1 degree Celsius (30 °F), we embarked on a breath-holding dive with unwavering determination, utilizing the fundamental principles of the o2co2 Method.

This striking video not only showcases the physical feat but also the mental challenge that such an endeavour represents, supported by methodical preparation. However, it’s crucial to emphasize that this achievement was only possible through meticulous preparation and a commitment to safety, by implementing the teachings of the 4 keys of the o2co2 Method. We took all necessary measures to minimize the inherent risks of such an extreme adventure, incorporating the principles of this innovative method.

* We want to caution all those who might be tempted to follow in our footsteps without adequate preparation. Free-diving in such extreme conditions requires a high level of physical and mental training, as well as consideration of all available safety measures. It is imperative to never free-dive alone but always be accompanied by experienced and competent professionals.

“As someone with a pre-existing practice of breathwork and ice bathing with the WHM, I was happily surprised by how much I learned from Marc Romain in his fundamentals workshop. His mastery is profound, original, and inspiring… Something well beyond the frame of the WHM.

His graciousness and humility was also remarkable. I respected his patience with several nervous beginners, who were put at ease by his gentle and compassionate style of guidance.

I would love to take an advanced workshop with him!”
